Objectives This article describes an appliance which was a modification of transpalatal arch of the goshgarian type assessed by palatal mini-screw implants used as a maximum anchorage. The advantages and disadvantages of the appliance were presented.
Materials and methods Two palatal TADs were inserted paramedian, to the medial palatine raphe on an imaginary line connecting the center of resistances of molars. The appliance that was inserted on the lingual sheath of the maxillary molars’ bands, extended as U- shaped as anteriorly as possible. Double threaded ligature wire was attached between the mini-screws and soldered hooks.
Results The clinical application showed a Class I molar and canine relationships were established. Acceptable overjet and overbite were also achieved. The post-treatment panoramic radiograph showed that the roots of the teeth were fairly parallel.
The post-treatment panoramic radiograph showed that the roots of the teeth were parallel, and the supporting tissues appeared healthy.
Conclusions The appliance was found to be effective in the maximum molar anchorage, and therefore it is recommended for clinical use on cases indicated for its use.
